I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
1 Timothy 2:1-2 KJV
Intercessory prayer is prayer offered on behalf of another—not for yourself.
In the scripture above, we see that God places intercessory prayer as a first priority. In other words, you should be praying for others—leaders of your church, your city, and your nation—more than you pray for yourself.
In Ephesians 6:18, the Bible shows us that praying always for all the saints is part of the Christian armor. This means that if we neglect to intercede for other believers, our armor is incomplete, and we are spiritually exposed.
God’s agenda in these end times advances only to the extent that we intercede. His purposes for your relatives, community, and nation may be waiting on someone like you to pray.
Make up your mind to be a priest before God—one who stands in the gap for your children, your family, your church, your city, and your nation.
Plan each day of the week to intercede for a specific group of people.
Let the intercessors arise and take their place!
