I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
The passage above urges us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, and not to conform to the world, but to be transformed by renewing our minds daily with the Word of God. The renewing of the mind has a number of components—reading the Word, meditating on the Word, and doing the Word.
A man of God once said that every day, we have to choose either to conform to the world or to be transformed. It is easy to accommodate some sins, neglect toward God, or a little rebellion. A mindset like this does not help us in our Christian journey and does not please God.
I pray that when we all look back at 2023, we can say, “I used to have this and that weakness, but it’s all gone—no more! I have overcome them!” This will be a testimony Heaven will be pleased with.
I’ll end this devotion with two questions:
- What are you done with?
- What are you committed to?
Let’s make sure we come to God with an honest answer to these questions.
