Strengthen Your Faith

And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,
Romans 4:19-20 NKJV

The story of Abraham serves as one of the clearest examples—or syllabus—of what biblical faith looks like. It is deeply beneficial to study and reflect on the life of Abraham, often called the father of faith.

Yesterday, we examined little faith. Today, our focus is on weak faith and strong faith.

According to our passage, weak faith is faith that considers the circumstances—how bad things are, how hopeless they seem. Another mark of weak faith is that it wavers: it believes one day and doubts the next. The Bible calls this unbelief.

To move beyond weak faith, you must make up your mind to stand firm on what you’ve discovered in Scripture. Faith is a spiritual muscle, and like any muscle, it must be exercised to grow stronger.

Let the Word of God convince you of its truth. Once convinced, dare to believe it! As you continue to stand firm, even when circumstances don’t change, your faith is strengthened. This is the essence of strong faith—praising God not for what you see, but for what He has promised, even when it’s not yet visible.
