The Mystery of the Blood

So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.”
Job 1:9-10 NKJV

The story of Job is well known—a man who feared God and lived righteously. We are also told that Job regularly offered sacrifices on behalf of his children, in case they had sinned against God. Then Satan appears in the courts of heaven, and God engages him in a discussion about Job.

What I want to highlight is this: Job had a consistent habit of making sacrifices—applying the blood frequently. This practice, though often forgotten today, was almost a daily discipline for Job. We can reasonably infer that he also did this for himself. And what was the result?

Satan makes a revealing statement: God had placed a hedge around Job—around his household and all that he possessed.

What secured this hedge? Right living and the continual application of the blood. Satan couldn’t penetrate that covering. He literally had to ask God for special permission to test Job.

From this revelation, let us learn to constantly apply the blood of Jesus over every area of our lives:

  • Our lives, health, minds, and hearts
  • Our households—spouses and children
  • Our possessions, finances, businesses, and jobs
  • Our ministries, relationships, and influence

The blood still speaks. Use it. Apply it. Declare it. Let the hedge stand strong.
